Histoire Navale

The island history of Île d’Orléans is a love story between land and sea. Both farmers and sailors, the royal architects of New France had drawn the lines of the land to give them access to the river and transport their crops in schooners.

La chalouperie

François-Xavier Lachance’s workshop is one of the last examples of shipbuilding in the heart of the maritime village of Saint-Laurent. The Tigidou jam factory, concerned with preserving the island’s heritage, has integrated its production center with ingenuity to preserve the nature of the place, its history and access to the public in season.
